Born: December 22, 1830 (SC)
Died: January 28, 1872 (SC)
Father
Mother
Biographical Sketch:
She lived with and may have
married George
M. Harter; they had 10 children.
George apparently had a family with Teresa's younger sister Mary
J. Williams (see 1860 census), later including Sarah
Elizabeth Harter (as indicated on Sarah's death certificate).
He married or lived with Teresa and,
after
Teresa's death, had two more children with Mary.
Children (with George M. Harter):
Walter
(1864 - >1880) See 1900
Harriet (Jun 15 1865 – Jan 27
1937) + ?
{According to Mother, "Aunt Harriet" was a midwife, and delivered most
of Mother's siblings (but not her). One of Harriet's arms was
deformed, and apparently missing from the elbow down.}
Jane (1870 - >1880)
Children (with unknown husband, possibly W. J. Harvey --
see 1850):
-- ages based on 1860 census
Mary A.R. (1854 - ?)
William A. (1856 - >1900) See 1900 1910
Elenn [or Elenda] (1858 - ?)
Terresa [or Amanda] (1860 - ?)
Census Data:
1840
1850
-- Teresa is not found. Sarah Williams (age 45) is Head of Household.
Sister Mary (age 9) is still at home. However, several
Teresa Elizabeth Harvey candidates are elsewhere in the 1850 census .
1860
-- Household 445 of
George M. Harter, Mary Williams (age 20), George M. Williams (age 1),
Teresa E. Harvey (age 28), Mary A.R. Harvey (age 6), William A. Harvey
(age 4), Elenor Harvey (age 2), Terresa Harvey (age 6/12). Virgil
Manuel (age 11) appears to be somehow within households 445 and
446. So Mary has 1 Harter child and Teresa has 4 Harvey children.
1870a
1870b
-- She is Head of Household, as Therey Harvy, a "Lady Farmer" age 45,
Mary (Farm Help, age 18), William (age 16, Farm Labor), Elizabeth (age
14, Farm Labor), Amanda (age 12, Farm Labor), Luther (age 10, Farm
Labor), Joseph (age 8, At Home), Jane (age 6, At Home), Sarah (age 4,
At Home). At least 4 are Harvey children (Mary A.R., William, Elizabeth
and Amanda). Luther, Joseph, Jane and Sarah could be children of George
Harter.

Notes:
She is listed as Teresa E.
Harvey in the 1860
census; she had 4 children with the Harvey surname,
and is shown in the same household as George M . Harter, Mary Williams
and a 1 year old boy, George M. Williams. See notes on
George
M. Harter.
Her children in 1860 were:
Mary A.R. Harvey (age 6)
William A. Harvey (age 4)
Elenn Harvey (age 2)
-- listed as age 19 "Elenda" in 1880
Terresa (age 6/12 months) -- listed as "Amanda" in 1870 and
"Mander" in 1880
In 1870, she is listed as "Therey Harvy" with occupation "Lady
Farmer".
There are 8 children ranging in age from 18 to 4. They are:
Mary (age 18)
-- probably same as age 6 girl noted in 1860
William (age 16)
-- probably same as age 4 boy noted in 1860
Elizabeth (age 14)
-- probably same as age 2 "Elenn" noted in 1860 and age 19 "Elenda" in
1880
Amanda (age 12)
-- probably same child as "Terresa" noted in 1860 and "Mander" in 1880. This is her death certificate
Luther (age 10)
-- possibly the same as age 1 boy "George M. Williams" in 1860, with
mother Mary Williams
Joseph (age 8)
-- possibly age 14 boy "Jasper" in 1880
Jane (age 6)
-- listed as 10 in 1880
Sarah (age 4)
-- listed as 15 in 1880
John Williams is a possible candidate for Teresa's father:

Note Sarah Williams (age 53) in same household with Andrew Harter (age
60) in 1860.
Note -- Teresa Elizabeth William's first husband may have been one of the following men, probably W.J.
Harvey. The latter was killed in October 1864. See Hagood's Company A.
Two Harveys appear in the 1st Regiment, South Carolina Infantry
(Hagood's Company A):
Harvey, J.C. (private, then corporal in Company K, A)
Harvey, W.J. (private, Company A). See 1850 census
John Harvey, age 29 with wife Elinor (age 24) + child Emily (age 8/12) is also a candidate in the 1850 census .
