He was named after his grandfather, Thoroughgood Pate. He married Frances
Bright. They had two children, one
daughter was Elizabeth
K. Pate. Their marriage was Jan. 17, 1807, according to Marlboro
County, SC

records.
Thoroughgood was brother to Hester
Pate (ca 1794-1800 - bf Nov 7, 1841).
