Biographical Sketch:

He married first Laura Ann Louisa Brant on November 9, 1868; they had 6 children.
He married second after 1881 to Sara Elizabeth Harter; they had two children (see 1900 census), one whom apparently died young.  Only Fred Wilson Manuel was alive in 1900.

His application under Confederate State Soldiers Pension Act of 1919:
July 1, 1864: enlisted in Company F, Regiment 3rd SC Calvary (Capt. ?? Smart)
May 1, 1865: discharged at Green Pond, SC.
Application is dated August 21, 1919.
