Notes:
from Jane Priester Hawkin's book (p 19):
"GEORGE is believed to have died in 1872.  On December 23, 1874, two years after his death, the United States Commissioners of Claims responded to GEORGE's 1871 petition {for damages of $3,840.50. See p 18}.  They stated that GEORGE's application to testify in his own behalf was rejected by Commissioner Epting of South Carolina.  A neighbor has stated that 'GEORGE had always been a bitter rebel and cursed the Union'".

Note that his elder son George Ulmer, and his son-in-law Marion M. Main, were both killed in the Civil War.

Death-- deeds of land transfer to his children are dated July 3, 1872.
