Biographical Sketch:

His wife is unknown; they had 9 children.  One son was probably John G. Main, who lived in Barnwell County until his death.  Two other sons moved to Lowndes County, Georgia by 1850.  In 1850 see Robert Main, who would have been around age 27, and Elmore C. Main, who would have been around age 30.

By 1850, Elmore C. Main had a 17 year old wife and a 1 year old daughter; the wife had been born in Georgia.  His older brother Robert had a wife who had been born in South Carolina; their oldest child was 6, and had been born in Georgia.  This suggests that some of the Mains moved from Barnwell County, SC to Lowndes County, GA no later than 1844.

Also noted in 1850s Georgia is William Main.  William and his wife were both born in SC around 1796, so William might have been a brother of Elmore Main.

Interestingly, several of the neighbors of the Lowndes County Mains were also born in South Carolina.
