I would like to correspond with anyone interested in the Henry BRIGHT
III (d. c. 1765) family of Currituck Co., NC. Henry left a will
naming
sons Henry, John, Charles; daughters Mary, Keziah, Ann; brother Silas;
wife Ann. Henry was probably a relatively young man when he
died.
His children were minors for the most part and came under the
guardianship
of Caleb ETHEREDGE and Silas BRIGHT in the early 1770's. My
ancestor
was Charles BRIGHT who married Mary (?), fought in the Continental Line
from North Carolina as a Sergeant, and then moved to Marlboro Co.,
SC.
He was born ca. 1756 and died in March of 1830. His children:
Drusilla,
Mary, Frances, Purrington H., Bassett C., Catherine, Arthur, Godfrey,
and
Lodwick B. Bright. Brightsville in Marlboro County was named for
him.
He was a man of substance in the area and highly respected.
